Geographical characteristics

The Vrnjacka Spa is the largest contemporary health spa resort in Serbia. It is located in an attractive foothill of the Mountain Goc(1,147 meters above sea level), in the valley of the West Morava river on about 200 km south from Belgrade.

The Vrnjacka spa centre is for both holiday makers and the recreational lovers. Its stunning location provides a unique moderate continental microclimate, which has led to the development of lush landscaped grounds, providing an oasis of tranquility and beauty for guests to enjoy and relax in (20 degrees Celsius during summer and snowy during winter).

Tourist offer

UNESCO protected medieval monuments surround Vrnjacka Spa, standing as a reminder of the early European Civilizations. Nearby landmarks nestled in the colorful Ibar River valley include the first court of the Serbian Archbishop, the Zica Monastery; beautifully frescoed Sopocani Monastery dated back to the XIII and XII century A.D. and the very famous Studenica Monastery. Lying eastwards of the area is the XIV century A.D. Ljubostinja Monastery which houses the tombs of Princess Milica and the first Serbian poetess Jelena, while going southwards, one reaches the Gradac Monastery which was an endowment of Queen Helen of Anjou, wife of King Uros the 1^st, dating back to the XIII century A.D.

Nearby are the two most popular tourist resorts, mountains Kopaonik and Goc.

Entertainment is plentiful at Vrnjacka Spa with a variety of things

to do for everyone. A key feature are the gardens which in the summer play host to the 'Culture Fortress', a summer stage, cinema, bandstand, art galleries and many sporting activities.

During the summer guests are entertained by numerous concerts, theatre performances, poetry evenings and exhibitions.

The Vrnjacka Spa has five springs, which are divided into two categories of medicinal mineral waters: Hot (36.5 degrees Celsius), carbon-acidic thermal and Cold (14-27 degrees Celsius), alkaline, earth alkaline and carbon-acidic.

Four of them (Topla voda, Sneznik, Slatina, Jezero) have been approved by the World Health Organization.
